Home G chords for piano Gm11 Piano Chord

Gm11 Piano Chord

A dark, deep sound. Popular in jazz and neo-soul. Unlike the major 11th, the (minor) third is far enough from the eleventh that it doesn't need to be omitted.

Piano

Recommended voicing
Left hand G2 · F3 fingers 5–1
Right hand C4 · A4 · Bb4 fingers 1–4–5

How to play the Gm11 chord on piano

Split the recommended voicing between the hands: play G2 and F3 with the left hand and C4, A4 and Bb4 with the right. Suggested fingering is 5–1 on the left and 1–4–5 on the right (1 is the thumb). The perfect fifth D can usually be omitted from an extended chord, keeping the sound clear and the voicing manageable.
