C#m11 Piano Chord

A dark, deep sound. Popular in jazz and neo-soul. Unlike the major 11th, the (minor) third is far enough from the eleventh that it doesn't need to be omitted.

Recommended voicing

How to play the C#m11 chord on piano

Split the recommended voicing between the hands: play C#3 and B3 with the left hand and F#4, D#5 and E5 with the right. Suggested fingering is 5–1 on the left and 1–4–5 on the right (1 is the thumb). The perfect fifth G# can usually be omitted from an extended chord, keeping the sound clear and the voicing manageable.
