F#m11 Piano Chord

A dark, deep sound. Popular in jazz and neo-soul. Unlike the major 11th, the (minor) third is far enough from the eleventh that it doesn't need to be omitted.

Piano

Recommended voicing
Left hand F#2 · E3 fingers 5–1
Right hand B3 · G#4 · A4 fingers 1–4–5

How to play the F#m11 chord on piano

Split the recommended voicing between the hands: play F#2 and E3 with the left hand and B3, G#4 and A4 with the right. Suggested fingering is 5–1 on the left and 1–4–5 on the right (1 is the thumb). The perfect fifth C# can usually be omitted from an extended chord, keeping the sound clear and the voicing manageable.
