Ebm11 Piano Chord

A dark, deep sound. Popular in jazz and neo-soul. Unlike the major 11th, the (minor) third is far enough from the eleventh that it doesn't need to be omitted.

Piano

Recommended voicing
Left hand Eb3 · Db4 fingers 5–1
Right hand Ab4 · F5 · Gb5 fingers 1–4–5

How to play the Ebm11 chord on piano

Split the recommended voicing between the hands: play Eb3 and Db4 with the left hand and Ab4, F5 and Gb5 with the right. Suggested fingering is 5–1 on the left and 1–4–5 on the right (1 is the thumb). The perfect fifth Bb can usually be omitted from an extended chord, keeping the sound clear and the voicing manageable.
