Fm11 Piano Chord

A dark, deep sound. Popular in jazz and neo-soul. Unlike the major 11th, the (minor) third is far enough from the eleventh that it doesn't need to be omitted.

Piano

Recommended voicing
Left hand F2 · Eb3 fingers 5–1
Right hand Bb3 · G4 · Ab4 fingers 1–4–5

How to play the Fm11 chord on piano

Split the recommended voicing between the hands: play F2 and Eb3 with the left hand and Bb3, G4 and Ab4 with the right. Suggested fingering is 5–1 on the left and 1–4–5 on the right (1 is the thumb). The perfect fifth C can usually be omitted from an extended chord, keeping the sound clear and the voicing manageable.
