C#m11 Piano Chord

A dark, deep sound. Popular in jazz and neo-soul. Unlike the major 11th, the (minor) third is far enough from the eleventh that it doesn't need to be omitted.

Piano

Recommended voicing
Left hand C#3 · B3 fingers 5–1
Right hand F#4 · Eb5 · E5 fingers 1–4–5

How to play the C#m11 chord on piano

Split the recommended voicing between the hands: play C#3 and B3 with the left hand and F#4, Eb5 and E5 with the right. Suggested fingering is 5–1 on the left and 1–4–5 on the right (1 is the thumb). The perfect fifth Ab can usually be omitted from an extended chord, keeping the sound clear and the voicing manageable.
