Hadd9 Guitar Chord

A fresh major chord sound enriched with a ninth, but without the seventh. Popular in pop and indie rock. Unlike the full ninth chord (9), it contains no seventh tension.

How to play the Hadd9 chord on guitar

Read the string pattern X–2–1–X–2–2 from the low E string to the high E string. Numbers in the pattern are frets; numbers in the colored dots are left-hand fingers. X means a muted string and 0 means an open string.

5th string (A) Fret 2 · middle finger
