F7 Guitar Chord

A tense chord that "wants" to resolve up a fourth. Essential for blues, jazz, rock'n'roll and funk. The added minor seventh creates characteristic tension.

How to play the F7 chord on guitar

Read the string pattern 1–3–1–2–1–1 from the low E string to the high E string. Numbers in the pattern are frets; numbers in the colored dots are left-hand fingers. X means a muted string and 0 means an open string.
